So do you love google as much as I do then check out a preview version of Google’s ‘caffeine’s architecture (new code base). What’s the difference you ask. Well to the average user, nothing really but if your one those die hard searchers out there then you might notice something. All the changes are behind the scenes so you might notice that some search results rank differently, that’s about it. Well it’s offical. Today Firefox has reached the 1 Billion download Milestone. The browser now roughly owns 30% of the browser market. It’s my personal favorite browser and if you haven’t use it then you should check it out.
Well it’s official, Microsoft and Yahoo have signed an 10 year web search agreement to try and take down Google. The long-expected deal means Microsoft’s new Bing search engine will be combined with Yahoo‘s experience attracting advertisers in the first serious threat to Google Inc.

Global TV just launched a new site called “TV Classics”. Which is good news for us Canadians who are starved for free online TV. Right now they are featuring 12 classic TV shows. Choose from Dawson’s Creek, Married With Children, Who’s The Boss, Silver Spoons and others. They also have a request an episode feature. I’m so requesting the episode of Dawson’s Creek where there is that awkward tension between Dawson and Joey…….wait that’s every episode.
One of the best standalone video players has reached 1.0. VLC 1.0 is a free download for Windows, Mac, and Linux systems. Some of the new features include new HD codecs such as (AES3, Dolby Digital Plus, TrueHD, Blu-Ray Linear PCM, Real Video 3.0 and 4.0). Check out the new version at the Videolan.org
Youtube has increase the files size limit for your uploaded videos from 1gb to 2gb which should make some users very happy. Also you will now have the ability to directly link to and embed high definition video.
To share a link to the HD version of your video, simply append &hd=1 to the end of the URL. This means the video will start playing in HD as soon as someone follows the link.
To embed the HD version of a video on a website or blog, click the ‘customize’ button to the right of the embed box on the video page. Some options will appear; simply check ‘play in HD’. The embed code that’s generated will cause the video to start playing in HD as soon as a viewer clicks play.
For all you Gmail users out there. This just in, you can now send an attachment that is up to 25mb. This is up from the 2omb it used to be. So enjoy that extra 5mb when you send an email……i know i will.
For all those users who have firefox already then all you got to do is do an update check. To do this “help / check for updates” and viola you have moved up to preview release. As for the Preview itself, it contains stability and JavaScript fixes, better support for Ogg-coded audio and video, and a few other efficiencies. The Release Candidate, meanwhile, is still slated for tomorrow, so this looks to be something like an almost-there nightly build.
